Scenes from trains & buses

I started taking photographs from trains many years ago in the US and have written about it many times. In the UK, it is often impossible to make any photographs, trains are more crowded (popular) and rarely an available window seat, plus moving much faster. Over the last few years, I have been able to visit Scotland, many times including some rail travel and one trip being entirely by public transport. This meant buses as well as trains, and if you think trains move around a lot, just try photographing from a bus!

These photographs are all from my recent travels in Scotland. The main attraction of doing this is that trains go where cars don't, so if you want to cover a lot of ground in a short time, you can see a lot more unique scenes. I have to admit also that I quite like the shaken and/or not really in focus results, representing the spirit of the land rather than the detail.

I have a parallel project scenes from a train from North America.
